Obituary for Dilys Carrington
Dilys Carrington (1915 - 2009)
We are sorry to announce that Dilys Carrington passed away on the 22nd September 2009.
Dilys was born on 13th June, 1915 in Stourbridge, Worcs., and was educated at Kings High School for Girls, Warwick, and Bedford College, University of London, where she studied Mathematics and Psychology.
She first had lessons from FM Alexander in 1938 and in the following year she temporarily replaced Alexander's secretary at Ashley Place where Alexander ran his training course and private practice.
In 1940 she was secretary to the Physical Society and in the same year married Walter Carrington. They had three children.
Dilys began her teacher training with Alexander just before his death. She completed it with Walter in 1960.
In the course of her teaching career, she was a very active member of the Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique having spent many years as an elected and co-opted member of the Society's Council.
